Young Leaders

At Mawsley School, encouraging leadership and responsibility is at the heart of what we do. For several years, we have run a successful Young Leaders Programme, which gives our children the opportunity to take responsibility for helping and supporting their peers. This may include assisting at extracurricular clubs such as sports, art, or cooking; helping to run our annual Sports Day; leading activities during lunchtimes as play leaders or even taking on the role of a young librarian.

Children are selected by their class teachers for a variety of reasons. Some may be chosen because of a particular gift or talent in areas such as athletics, crochet, or art. Others may be selected for their enthusiasm and passion for reading or creativity. In some cases, children are encouraged to take part as a way of building their confidence and developing their ability to show responsibility.

The Young Leaders Programme has been a shining success at our school. It benefits both the young leaders, who grow in confidence and develop valuable skills, and their peers, who enjoy and gain from the activities and support provided. The programme is a wonderful example of how leadership, responsibility and collaboration can help create a positive and enjoyable experience for all.
