The children in year two were very lucky to have some feathery friends visit so they could learn all about how these amazing creatures are suited to their nocturnal lifestyle. The children learned how important it is for them to fly silently, about the prey that they hunt and how the protect themselves from predators. Three different species of owl were brought in; a Barn Owl, a Long Eared Owl and an African white faced owl. We were very lucky to see a Long Eared Owl as they are very rare. Not only did the children get to meet these owls, they also studied a Hawk and a Peregrine Falcon to compare them to owls. We all had such a fantastic morning and are now all feel like very wise old owls indeed!
